French Pete Trail

French Pete Trail is a wilderness trail with a campground[1] along French Pete Creek, in the Oregon Cascades in the United States. It is in a valley of old-growth forest part of the Three Sisters Wilderness area,[2] to which its forest was added in 1978,[3] following "14 years of ardent protest by hikers, students, and environmentalists."[4]

The dense forest off of the French Pete Trail.

The French Pete Trail, open to hikers and horses spring through fall, features a 3.4-mile roundtrip hike to a point where the creek splits the trial into two, or 10 miles roundtrip to complete the trail. As described in Sullivan's book, the forest features "gargantuan Douglas firs and 1000-year-old cedars."[4]
