Established in 1954, the Centre international de formation européenne is a private non-profit-making international organisation which includes several European studies courses as well as conferences, seminars and publications. The programmes of the Centre international de formation européenne (CIFE) encompass educational and research activities concerning European integration, federalism, regionalism and changes within the structures of contemporary society in accordance with a federalist prospective. CIFE receives the support of the European Union and other international organisations, of numerous national governments as well as regional and local authorities, foundations, and private contributors.

European Online Academy

Master in EU Studies

The CIFE operates a European Online Academy: this program is intended for young professionals from the public or the private sector which want to update their knowledge about European problems, especially political, economical and juridical questions within the European Union. The Master Online Programme offers an opportunity for them to continue their studies and to get a complementary diploma while pursuing their careers. The e-learning platform stores the course materials and enables interaction among participants as well as between experts and participants. During the face-to-face workshops, which complement the virtual activities , and which take place in different European capitals like Berlin, Rome, Budapest or Brussels, the participants also meet each other, meet national decision makers, and constitute a dynamic, international network.

Master in European and International Journalism

Aim of the Programme

The aim of this Master’s Degree is to acquaint young journalists with the issues specific to European and international politics. It teaches them how to take these into account in any day-to-day practice of journalism.

This Master’s Degree is aimed at any student who has completed an undergraduate program (three or four years) in journalism and who has demonstrable knowledge of English and French. To apply candidates are asked to fill out the application form. Student grants, in the guise of reduced fees, are available for exceptionally gifted students.

Length of the Programme

This programme stretches over one academic year, from October 2010 to July 2011. It takes place in Nice (France), at the Institut européen des hautes études internationales, but also includes study trips in Europe.

Specific Advantages of the Programme

•The CIFE has recognised experience in the organisation of Master’s Degrees in European and International Studies, as it has been organising Studies Programmes at the highest level for close to 50 years. •The programme offers a combination of interdisciplinary training in European and International Studies and further training in the international practice of journalism. •The programme is run in an international setting with respect to teachers as well as students. This is enhanced by the practice of two languages. •"Learning and living Europe" : the international framework and the small size of the group (maximum of 15 students) make of this programme a unique learning and human experience.

•Among other activities, the programme includes a trip to European and international institutions. The CIFE is one of the six institutions to benefit from the "Jean Monnet Action: Support for specified institutions pursuing an aim of European interest" of the European Union.

CIFE’s creations

  • Master in Advanced European and International Studies

In 1964, CIFE founded its own post-graduate institute, the European Institute of High International Studies (IEHEI), with the support of the City of Nice and the European Commission. It cooperates with numerous universities, notably in Germany, Italy, Turkey and Central and Eastern Europe. Taking place in several countries, these programmes only focus on European and International studies. The Institute has an international faculty, consisting of university professors and experts, and a multicultural student body.
