Assuck was a DIY anarchist grindcore band from Florida, active from 1987 to 1998.


Assuck's Anticapital was voted number 4 in Terrorizer magazine's top 20 US grindcore albums of all time. Terrorizer describes Assuck as a "low-calibre battery of brooding, malicious, doom-ridden grind.".[3] Journalist Greg Pratt states: "Assuck were an incredible band with probably metal's best drummer [Rob Proctor], although no one ever mentions his name. They combined shockingly well-written poetic and political lyrics with catchy songs, insane musicianship and a short-fast-loud brutality that no one has topped since."[5]


In Felix Von Havoc's review of grindcore origins (Maximumrockandroll #198), Assuck is elitely grouped with Napalm Death (Scum + Mentally Murdered + 1987 Peel Sessions) and Terrorizer (World Downfall). Anticapital is assessed as an unequaled triumph of grindcore, analogous to Slayer's Reign In Blood contribution to thrash metal.
