Dale Folwell is a Republican member of the North Carolina General Assembly representing the State's 74th House District, a part of Forsyth County. He was first elected in 2004 and is serving his fourth term. He was elected as Speaker Pro Tempore for the 2011 Session. He currently serves as chairman for the Finance Committee, and as a member of the Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government, Commerce and Job Development, Commerce and Job Development Subcommittee on Business and Labor, Government, Insurance, and Rules, Calendar, and Operations of the House Committees. He also served as the 2007-2008 Joint Republican Caucus Leader. In 2009 Civitas Action ranked him by his actions as the most conservative of the state's politicians.[1]

Representative Folwell has proposed and passed legislation to improve areas of education, crime prevention, government efficiency, and family values. During his tenure, Representative Folwell has introduced 40 bills of which 20 were passed and signed by the Governor.

As a North Carolina native born in Raleigh, Rep. Folwell attended West Forsyth High School in Winston-Salem and received his BS in Accounting in 1984 and his Masters in Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1986. He is the former Vice President and Registered Investment Advisor for Deutsche Bank/Alex Brown. After graduating from the North Carolina Institute of Political Leadership in 1989, he served for eight years on the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Board of Education from 1993-2000.
