Shanmuganatha Pattanam is a small Nagarathar Village which is located near Devakottai.This village supposed to be 200+ years old.After the separation of Uruthikottai Vattagai Nagarathar from the Main Community,Uruthikottai vattagai Nagarathar has got settled in different places initially.Panakkarai was one of those initial locations where some of the Uruthikottai Nagarathar living.Later on those people have moved to Shanmuganatha Pattanam, Seenamangalam,Kumaravelur,Avarangudi & S.Sokkanatha Puram.Apart from these villages,some of the Uruthikottai Nagarathar were settled in M.Soorakkudi,Eriyur & K.Palaiyur.Though Shanmuganatha Pattanam is an interior village of Sivaganga district, it has got all major facilities such as Schools up to Higher Secondary, Post Office, Transport in frequent mode(Auto,Bus),Water Facility and etc.,

Shanmuganatha Pattanam has 200 pulli(Family)& most of them are living in out of this villages due to the business,work,study... However they all will be Conducting & attending all the marriages and other functions in the village.
