In recent years it has often been spelt 'Kirkbymoorside'. Either spelling acceptable. This tends to be confusing. For example:-The aircraft and reinforced plastics manufacturer Slingsby Aviation, originally Slingsby Sailplanes, is located there. Slingsby Sailplanes was at Kirbymoorside. Slingsby Aviation is at Kirkbymoorside |

The place-name was initially spelled either 'Kirkbymoorside' or 'Kirbymoorside', but now the latter is considered archaic and is never used in an official capacity within the town; for example, businesses and addresses. All sign-posts read 'Kirkbymoorside'. |

Kirkbymoorside is a small market town in North Yorkshire, England. It was the last town in England without double-yellow lines to restrict parking, and has a population of around 3,000.
The place-name was initially spelled either 'Kirkbymoorside' or 'Kirbymoorside', but now the latter is considered archaic and is never used in an official capacity within the town; for example, businesses and addresses. All sign-posts read 'Kirkbymoorside'.
The mayor, as of 2005, is Mr Nigel Richardson, owner of a local transport and travel organization.
