Fruitvale Road Train Station is located on the Western Line of the Auckland Railway Network. This station is near the local schools, including 2 major high schools.
To the east is New Lynn Train Station and to the west is Glen Eden Train Station.
Station Name
The station is currently named after a nearby road. The road is not very well known, thus new passengers will most likely have no idea which suburb this station serves. It has been proposed to rename this station 'Kelston' since the station is itself located in the suburb of Kelston. It is also quite close to Kelston Shopping Centre, Kelston Girls High School and Kelston Deaf Education Centre.
