JD & The Straight Shot is an American band based in New York City that fuses blues with classic rock. The band's founder and frontman is James Dolan, head of several media and telecommunications organizations, such as Cablevision, the New York Knicks, and AMC Networks.
JD & The Straight Shot have toured alongside The Eagles, The Allman Brothers Band, and Robert Randolph. Members of the Straight Shot also tour with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Their song "Cant Make Tears" is the theme song for AMC's TV show Hell on Wheels. Their music has been featured in many films as well, including the critically acclaimed Hurricane Season. Protesters handing out leaflets about James Dolan's controversial labor practices as CEO of Cablevision have dogged some of the band's 2013 tour dates.
