Gabriela and Mihaela Modorcea (born June 7, 1983 in Romania),[2] also known as Indiggo, are Romanian reality television personalities[3] and singers signed with Imagem since August 2011.[4]

Career

In 2006, Indiggo attempted to represent Romania at the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest. Their song, "Be My Boyfriend" finished 7th out of 12 songs in the National Final [5][6]. They tried again the following year with "Lovestruck" but were disqualified before the contest due to not showing up for rehearsals and not providing the instrumental version of their song. The duo also missed their music video filming for the promotion of their song, declaring that they had some concerts in the United States. Furthermore, their song "Lovestruck" was the subject of plagiarism accusations, but it was proven that these accusations were wrong.[7][8][9]

In 2008, Indiggo qualified for the top 40 semi-finals on Season 3 of America's Got Talent, a reality show competition. The audience were booing at Indiggo and judge Piers Morgan called Mihaela and Gabriela Modorcea "the worst dancers and the worst singers in the entire competition" and they were eliminated from the competition.[10][11]

Gabriela and Mihaela acted in the musical The Two Orphans in Bucharest, Romania in 2006.[12] After seeing Mihaela and Gabriela acting in The Two Orphans, Romanian author D. R. Popescu wrote a play for them entitled Two Sisters, subsequently published in the Romanian-language collection of plays called Domnul Fluture si Doamna Fluture.[13]

Indiggo’s LA LA LA is sampled on “Murder to Excellence,” a song on Watch the Throne.[14]

Gabriela Modorcea had a non-speaking cameo role on the episode "Hothouse" of the television series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, which first aired on NBC on January 13, 2009.
