O'Dea,

I want to start off by saying that I respect you as an fellow editor.

I marked the removal of content from that article as being a [[WP:BLPBAN|special enforcement on a biography of living persons]]. That enforcement gives administrators a very wide berth to deal quickly and unilaterally with matters relating to BLPs. Nevertheless, I consulted with others before making the decision to take the action on the article.

The concerns of the Wikimedia Foundation in this area are not merely whether a statement is supported by reliable sources, or whether it is reported elsewhere, or whether the Irish courts have jurisdiction over (or can take any action against) the Wikimedia Foundation. The concerns are very much broader and more profound than that. They relate to privacy, dignity and responsibility. They relate to the spirit of BLP policy, not the letter. Utmost in our editorial concerns when writing BLPs is the possibility of harm of any kind (both to the subject, other people affected, or processes underway).

It was under those more broad set of considerations that I decided to act to remove the content under a [[WP:BLPBAN|special enforcement]]. The content may be restored once the trial has ended or once the court has decided to reveal the person's identity (which ever comes first).

We are under no "deadline" to report current affairs. The article stands complete as an encyclopedia entry without the content. So, wait for the case to finish or for the subject's identity to be revealed before restoring the content.

Thanks,

Biography of a living person

O'Dea,

I want to start off by saying that I respect you as an fellow editor.

I marked the removal of content from that article as being a special enforcement on a biography of living persons.

It was under those more broad set of considerations that I decided to act to remove the content under a special enforcement.
