Gabriela and Mihaela Modorcea (born June 7, 1983, in Romania),[4] also known as Indiggo, are Romanian reality television twin sister personalities and singer/songwriters signed with Imagem since August 2011.[1][5][unreliable source?][6]

Early life

The twin sisters are from Transylvania, Brasov.[7] They began studying piano and dance at the age of six.[8]

Career

Music

Discogs reported that they cut the CD album "Indiggo" (MediaPRO Music, 2000), and also the CD Maxi "Hip Hop Jam"‎ (BROS Music, 2006) and the CD single "Be My Boyfriend‎" (Sony BMG Music Entertainment, Ariola, 2006).[9]

In August 2011, music publisher Imagem signed a worldwide, multi-year publishing/grand rights deal with the twins.[2][3]

Complete Music Update and Broadway World reported that the twins can be heard on rappers Jay-Z and Kanye West’s ‘Watch The Throne’ 2011 studio album (what The New York Times described as a "moving sample" from Indiggo appeared on “Murder to Excellence,” a song on the album)[1][10][11] and in 2011 were working on an album with American music manager David Sonenberg.[2][3]

Eurovision qualifications

In 2006, Indiggo competed to represent Romania at the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest. Their song, "Be My Boyfriend", finished 7th out of 12 songs in the National Final.[12] They tried again the following year with "Lovestruck", but were disqualified before the contest due to not showing up for rehearsals and not providing the instrumental version of their song. The duo also missed the music video filming for the promotion of their song, saying that they had some concerts in the United States.[13][14][15][16]

America's Got Talent

In 2008, Indiggo qualified for the top 40 semi-finals on Season 3 of America's Got Talent, a reality show competition. The show began with an audition in New York City, which the twins passed, being let through to the next stage of Vegas callbacks.[1] The audience booed, and judge Piers Morgan called Mihaela and Gabriela Modorcea "the worst dancers and the worst singers in the entire competition", but they were promoted in the competition to the Vegas round.[1][17][18][19][20][2] The New York Times described them as “America’s Got Talent” punching bags".Cite error: The <ref> tag has too many names (see the help page).

She also had a small role on the episode "Hothouse" of the television series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, which first aired on NBC on January 13, 2009.[21]
