The Lemon Tree Hotel Company

The Lemon Tree Hotel Company is an Indian chain of hotels and resorts with its head office in Aerocity Hospitality District near Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. The company is India’s largest growing chain of upscale, midscale and economy hotels. The group offers 3 brands namely Lemon Tree Premier, Lemon Tree Hotels and Red Fox Hotels.

About –The Lemon Tree Story

The Lemon Tree Hotel Company was founded in 2002 by Patu Keswani, a first generation Indian entrepreneur. The first Lemon Tree Hotel opened in 2004 in Udyog Vihar, Gurgaon. Red Fox Hotels were promoted in 2006 and the first Red Fox hotel opened in 2009 in Jaipur. In 2012, Red Fox Hotels were merged with Lemon Tree Hotels. The Lemon Tree Premier brand was launched in 2010 with the opening of its first hotel in Bangalore.

The company presently owns, operates and manages close to 3000 rooms across 25 hotels, 15 cities with 3000 employees. By 2017, The Lemon Tree Hotel Company will own over 5000 rooms in 18 cities and will manage an additional 3000 rooms with over 8000 employees. Currently its hotels are located in most major destinations such as Ahmedabad, Aurangabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Delhi, Goa, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kerala, Noida and Pune. Hotels are currently under development in Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Udaipur, Hyderabad and Shimla.

Investors in Lemon Tree Hotels include the Japanese financial institution – Shinsei Bank, the India based Real Estate Fund – Kotak Realty Fund, PE firm – Warburg Pincus and the Dutch Pension Fund Manager – APG.

Management

Patanjali (Patu) Keswani

Chairman & Managing Director

Patu is a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi and an MBA from IIM Kolkata. He was presented the Distinguished Alumnus Award by IIT Delhi in 2011 and by IIM Kolkata in 2012. Patu worked for over 15 years in the Tata Administrative Services, where his last role was as Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer of Taj Business Hotels. Subsequently Patu has also worked with A.T. Kearney Inc., as Director in their India Office.

Patu promoted Lemon Tree Hotels in 2002.

Rattan Keswani

Deputy Managing Director

An alumnus of the Oberoi Centre for Learning and Development, Rattan started his career with The Oberoi Mumbai in 1983. An hotelier for over 31 years, Rattan has worked in India and overseas across many roles. He has been the GM for several marquee The Oberoi Hotels as well as the Executive Vice President for the Oberoi Hotels in Mumbai. In his last role, prior to joining Lemon Tree Hotels, he was President of the Trident Hotels (part of The Oberoi Group) and responsible for the operations of 13 hotels across India. A highly respected figure in the Indian hotel industry, Rattan brings to Lemon Tree Hotels several years of experience in managing high performance teams across multiple functions and geographies. Rattan is also the Chairman of Carnation Hotels Pvt. Ltd. – the hotel management arm of Lemon Tree Hotels.

Rahul Pandit

President & Executive Director

Rahul is a graduate of the Institute of Hotel Management, Pusa, New Delhi and is a former member of the Indian Karate team. He has studied brand management, HR management and innovation at IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore and Cornell-Nanyang. Rahul previously worked across India, USA and Singapore with Choice Hotels, Taj Hotels, Spectramind and Intercontinental Hotels. He also serves on the Confederation of Indian Industry's National Tourism Committee.

Employees With Disabilities

Currently, over 6% of group employees (~ 130 people) are from this segment of the population. The group plans to increase this number to 250 people by end 2013-14 (10% of total employees). Adopted Dogs
