Mr. Hussain Dawood is a renowned Pakistani businessman and philanthropist. Owing to the Dawood family’s business acumen and rich heritage, Mr. Dawood has enriched and steered many companies and businesses to successful heights. Currently he Chairs seven successful profit and not-for-profit organizations namely; Dawood Hercules Corporation, Engro Corporation, Hub Power Company, Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund, Karachi Education Initiative / Karachi School for Business & Leadership and Dawood Foundation and is an expert in Corporate Governance.

Mr. Dawood’s investments span across an array of sectors making him one of the most diverse businessman of Pakistan. Dawood Hercules Corporation’s businesses range from fertilizer, chemical to private equity, textile, garment, business end-to-end solutions and brokerage. Engro Corporation businesses range from fertilizer, chemicals to foods, grains, energy, trading, liquefied chemical terminal and coal mining. Hub Power Company’s business interests focus on energy

He is an ardent philanthropist and is therefore an active member of the World Economic Forum and it’s Global Agenda Council on Anti-Corruption, Education and Pakistan and its Partnering Against Corruption Initiative (PACI). He is also the Chairman of the International Advisory Council of the Cradle to Cradle Institute in San Francisco. He supports many education and humanitarian associations and serves as a Director on the boards of Pakistan Business Council, Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy and Beaconhouse National University. He is on the Boards Karachi Education Initiative UK, London and Asia House, London.

Being a passionate educationalist and an avid propagator of education, especially for girls, Mr. Hussain Dawood through the Dawood Foundation, has contributed to many institutions and causes including the establishment of The Dawood College of Engineering and Technology, The Dawood Public School for girls, The FG Dawood Public School, Muzaffarabad, the Suleman Dawood School of Business and The Ahmed Dawood Chair for the Dean of the School of Science and Engineering, both at The Lahore University of Management Sciences, The Mariam Dawood School of Visual Arts at the Beaconhouse National University, The Al-Shifa Eye Hospital, Rawalpindi, The Aga Khan University Hospital in Karachi, The Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital, The Citizen’s Foundation Dawood Hercules School, The Citizen’s Foundation Engro School, The Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technologies, The Pakistan for Philanthropy contributions to the 2005 Earthquake and 2010 Flood Affectees and to Sri Lanka and Indonesia for the Tsunami and Trinity Hall, Cambridge University.

The Italian Government in recognition of his contribution conferred on him the award “Ufficiale Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana.”

Mr. Dawood holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, USA, and is a graduate in Metallurgy from Sheffield University, UK.
