The Bucium (also called trâmbiţa or tulnic) is a type of Alpenhorn from Romania, of Dacian origin. It was used in the medieval principalities of Moldavia and Wallachia as signaling devices in military conflicts.
The tube is made from the bark of the limetree, from wood, or even (partially) from metal. It is especially used by sheperds for signaling and to communicate in the forested mountains, to call the sheeps and dogs.
The Trâmbiţa has completely different soundings than the Alpenhorn.
