.CLUB Domains LLC filed their application for the .CLUB gTLDs on January 12, 2012, the opening day for applications for ICANN’s new gTLD program.[1] Two other companies, Merchant Law Group LLP and Donuts Inc, also applied for the name.[5] CLUB Domains LLC won the .CLUB TLD in the first private auction held for new gTLDs,[6] entering the auction and backed for the launch of the company by $7 million from 27 investors.[7]
