Seller has multiple aliases, frequently listing a single item across many seller names and manipulating prices on abebooks, biblio and Amazon. They use computers to price their items a penny or 2 cheaper than any one else on these sites, and list the same item multiple times as multiple sellers. They ALWAYS send the crappiest, worst condition book, regardless of condition listed. If it says 'very good', expect an ex-library book with urine stains (unfortunately, this has happened to me several times with them, so, I am not joking).

The seller has books 'donated' to them through drop boxes placed near legitimate charities, claiming that they 'help fight literacy', despite the fact that they are NOT A NON-PROFIT OR CHARITY. I am amazed at all of the different scams they are able to pull at the same time, and that no one seems to call them out on their antics. Well, thriftbooks are a scam. It says so on wikipedia. source: my personal experience and a cursory search for other complaints about thrift books.

Notes

Seller has multiple aliases, frequently listing a single item across many seller names and manipulating prices on abebooks, biblio and Amazon.[14] They use computers to price their items a penny or 2 cheaper than any one else on these sites[15], and list the same item multiple times as multiple sellers. They ALWAYS send the crappiest, worst condition book, regardless of condition listed. If it says 'very good', expect an ex-library book with urine stains (unfortunately, this has happened to me several times with them, so, http://missreader.booklikes.com/post/915148/i-will-be-avoiding-thriftbookse-avoiding-thriftbooks</ref>

The seller has books 'donated' to them through drop boxes placed near legitimate charities[16], claiming that they 'help fight literacy', despite the fact that they are NOT A NON-PROFIT OR CHARITY[17]. It is a bit difficult to keep track of all of the different scams they are able to pull at the same time, while no one seems to call them out on their antics. Well, thriftbooks are a scam. It says so on wikipedia. source: a cursory search for other complaints about thrift books (and my personal experience, as well).
