The Detour is an American comedy television series created by Jason Jones and Samantha Bee about a family vacation road trip. The series premiered on TBS on April 11, 2016.[1]

Development
TBS ordered the pilot, written by Jason Jones and Samantha Bee in October 2014.[2] The show is based on the real life couple's own experience with family vacations.[8]
It was picked up to series with a ten-episode order in February 2015.[1] On April 6, 2016, the show was renewed for a second season before the premiere.[9]
