Harjeev S. Kandhari (born 9 April 1975)[1] is the founder and CEO of the tyre manufacturing company Zenises, the founder and Chairman of the Zenises Foundation and the non-executive Chairman of Walpole Capital.[2]
He founded Zenises in 2014[3] and its Z Tyre brand entered the Guinness Book of World Records for selling the most expensive tyres in the world.[4]
Early life
Kandhari was born in Hyderabad in India but moved to Dubai when he was 11 months old in 1976.[5] He then moved to Europe for his education and early career.[6] He worked at Merrill Lynch London in Corporate Finance[7] and then at New Media Spark in Venture Capital where he was one of the founders of EO.com – one of the first platforms to do IPOs online.[8] He moved back to Dubai in 2002 to run his family business.[9] On July 13, 2016, Harjeev Kandhari was appointed as Non-Executive Chairman of Warpole Capital.[10]
Education
Kandhari was educated at Rugby School in the UK.[11] He then studied at the London School of Economics for a one year diploma in mathematical economics[12] before pursuing his BA and MA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics at the University of Oxford.[13] He also has an MBA with Distinction from INSEAD in France.[14]
Personal life
Kandhari is married to Manika Kaur and has a son Siraj.[15] They currently live between Dubai and London.[16] Harjeev Kandhari is also a luxury travel enthusiast.[17]
The Zenises Group
Kandhari formed the Zenises Group in 2014 with a commitment to ensure that all his businesses have considerable social impact.[18] In order to underscore the importance of this the first entity to be created within the Zenises Group was the Zenises Foundation.[19]
The Zenises Group manufactures and sells its own brands of Z tyres and T Tyres in addition to helping market brands for some of the largest tyre factories in Asia.[20]
It distributes Westlake, Triangle, iLink, Kapsen, and Ardent.[21] The multinational also has offices in Germany, Italy, Spain, and Australia.[22]
ZTYRE.COM
Z Tyre is the private tyre brand of Zenises, focused on bringing the consumer a certified premium tyre of the highest quality at an affordable price.[23] Z Tyre is the current holder of the Guinness World Record for the most expensive tyres sold in the world.[24] This award was presented in May 2016 when Z Tyre sold a set of tyres for $600,000.[25] The tyres are tipped with 24-carat gold and specially selected diamonds in Italy, with the final application of a layer of gold leaf done by specialists in UAE.[26] Z Tyre is also the first tyre company in the world to offer tyres as a service rather than a product. In partnership with Alzura.com[27] in Germany it has launched a scheme that has many people referring to ZTYRE as the Netflix of tyres.[28] This scheme allows consumers to pay a flat monthly rate and covering all tyre related costs, and allowing customers to fit or upgrade tyres when needed. The service is currently available through Alzura X and its 600 partner stores nationwide.[29]
Commitment to Social Impact - The Zenises Foundation
The Zenises Group donates 10% of all profits to its own charity, the Zenises Foundation, to support philanthropic and educational initiatives.[30]
The efforts of the Zenises foundation are threefold: Z Aspire works with underpriviledged children supporting their education from primary through to master’s degree level.[31]
It also provides three scholarships to Oxford University, as well as an endowment for a university chair at St Peter’s College, The current recipient of the Z Aspire Endowment is Professor Ricardo Soares de Oliveira, a specialist in developmental politics.[32] OuTreach encourages local and international communities where Zenises operates to educate and mentor college students.[33] Westlake Wishes provides nourishing four-course meals to 125,000 people in a single day in India.[34] In South Africa, it provided a daily nutritious breakfast for a year for all the children at the Kiddies’ Paradise School in Rosettenville, Johannesburg.[35]
