Swami Yatiswarananda was born as Suresh Chandra Bhattacharya in erstwhile Bengal. He joined Ramakrishna Order in Belur Math and got initiation from Swami Brahmananda, the first president of the Ramakrishna Order. Later he went for teaching Vedanta in Europe and stayed in Wiesbaden in Germany. He also spread the message of Vedanta in Germany, Switzerland, France, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and other European countries. When the second world war broke out he left Norway by the last ship before the Nazi attack and leeft for United States. He set up vedanta Centre of Philadelphia in US and stayed there for about 8 years. Subsequently he returned to India first to stay and work in the Basavanagudi Ashrama of Bangalore which was under Swami Tyagishanandaji.After the death of Swami Tyagishanandaji, he was nominated as the president of the Bangalore Centre of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission and he devoted his effort in building up the ashrama by developing an educational facility for children called Vivekananda Balaka Sangha. He also consecrated the temple of Sri Ramakrishna. In 1965 upon the demise of President Swami Madhabananda, Swami Yatiswarananda was offered the president ship which he refused on account of his ill health. He took a very active role in organizing the Vivekananda Centenary Celebrations in 1963. He died in Ramakrishna Mission Seva Pratisthan in Kolkata in 1965.

Swami Yatiswarananda (1889-1966) was a vice-president of Shri Ramakrishna Math. He was a disciple of Swami Brahmananda. He served in Philadelphia[1] propagating the message of Vedanta. He was the president of Bangalore centre of Ramakrishna Math. He founded an ashrama in Switzerland.
