Ashwini Ekbote (Marathi: अश्विनी एकबोटे) was an Indian theatre and screen actress and a classical dancer. She began her acting career in the Marathi theatre. [1] [2]

Ashwini Ekbote had done several Marathi plays and been a part of many regional language based entertainment serials. Ashwini was actively involved in women empowerment and environmental issues. She was running a dance training class and very often conducted free of charge shows.[3]
Personal life
Ashwini Ekbote was born as Ashwini Katkar. Her husband Pramod Ekbote is a senior radio technician with the Pune Fire Brigade working with them for the past 25 years. Her son Subhankar Ekbote is also in the acting field. Her brother Rajesh Katkar is also a stage and film actor.[4]
Death
Ashwini Ekbote died on 23 Oct. 2017 after collapsing on stage during a performance in Pune at Bharat Natya Mandir. [5]
