Surendra Pal Joshi (Hindi: सुरेंद्रपाल जोशी) (23 July 1955 - 12 June 2018) was a prominent contemporary Indian painter. He founded Uttarakhand's first Museum of Contemporary Art named as Uttara Museum of Contemporary Art (उत्तरा समकालीन कला संग्रहालय) that comprises of permanent display of some of his works. He was a recipient of a number of Fellowships, Scholarships and honours including National awards by the Lalit Kala Akademi, National Academy of Art, India. Besides mural designing & installations, he was equally passionate in contributing to the field of abstract paintings. The wide-open spaces and vibrant colours of Rajasthan were integral part of his canvases.

Surendra Pal Joshi orgnised a solo exhibitions of his work for collecting funds for charity to Tsunami Waves, victims. He also directed a short documentary for PAHAD GATHA which was screened in Jaipur International Film Festival 2018 and received a special mention from JIFF.

Joshi was born on 23 July 1955, in Maniyarwala village, Dehradun, Uttarakhand. Trained in painting from Art and Craft College, Lucknow in 1985, Joshi evolved as a multidimensional artist. Starting his career as a figurative artist, he later decided to explore and blend up abstraction and explore new means of expression for his career pursuit. He had served as an assisstant professor(1988-2008) in the Fine Arts, Faculty, Rajasthan School of Art, Jaipur. Settled in Jaipur and actively working for the advancement of the art and culture of Rajasthan region, his umbilical cord has always been attached to his native place Uttarakand. In 2012, Taana Baana - a huge stainless steel installation by Joshi was a dynamic work which gained huge popularity.This work was dedicated to his mother. In 2012, an installation by Joshi has been put at the departure and closure of Jaipur International Airport.

In 2017 with the support of the state government he conceptualized the Uttara Museum of Contemporary Art(UMCA), a museum of contemporary art completely dedicated to the incidents from 2013 of Uttarakhand. The Museum showcases Joshi's work created on the theme of flood disasters in Kedarnath valley, Uttarakhand. In 2018, he was awarded the B.C Sanyal Award for his excellent work and dedication towards it. He was also associated with Bhoruka Charitable Trust, Jaipur and organised workshops in Jaipur and Art seminar in Dubai. He also started fellowship programs as a part of Trust.
