Sawtooth eels are a family, Serrivomeridae, of eels. They get their name from the saw-like arrangement of their vomerine teeth (inward-slanting teeth attached to the vomer bone in the roof of the mouth).
There are eleven species in two genera:
- Genus Serrivomer
- Bean's sawtooth eel, Serrivomer beanii Gill & Ryder, 1883.
- Thread eel, Serrivomer bertini Bauchot, 1959.
- Black sawtooth eel, Serrivomer brevidentatus (Roule & Bertin, 1929).
- Serrivomer danae (Roule & Bertin, 1924).
- Serrivomer garmani Bertin, 1944.
- Crossthroat sawpalate, Serrivomer jesperseni Bauchot-Boutin, 1953.
- Short-tooth sawpalate, Serrivomer lanceolatoides (Schmidt, 1916).
- Samoa sawtooth eel, Serrivomer samoensis Bauchot, 1959.
- Serrivomer schmidti Bauchot-Boutin, 1953.
- Serrivomer sector Garman, 1899.
- Genus Stemonidium
- Stemonidium hypomelas Gilbert, 1905.
