You have new messages (diff).

Welcome!

Hello, Lahiru k, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!  --rogerd 17:15, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I'm afraid we have had to delete some of your articles. This is nothing personal against the people written about, or against you, but because of Wikipedia policy. We have to have rules for who gets an article here, and it has already been decided that a person who is killed in battle is not noteworthy just because of that. If this were not the case there would have to be literally millions of articles about such people.

You are welcome to add articles about soldiers who have shown extreme courage and been rewarded by (for example) very rare medals of honour, or who have held very senior posts. It is advisable to make these things clear in the article. DJ Clayworth 17:41, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please be aware that we cannot accept contributions that have been copied from elsewhere on the web. Doing so is illegal. Please rewrite any articles in your own words. DJ Clayworth 17:48, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you might want to create a list of Sri Lankan Military Decorations here too. exolon 19:01, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well Done

Well Done Dearest Friend, Do keep up the excellent work on raising a voice against the LTTE true maniacs!!! Kaushini

You appear to have a disagreement with User:Wikipediatrix over Gamini Kularatne. You might have written the article originally, but by posting it here, you release it under the GFDL which allows anyone to edit it. Also, Wikipedia entries are supposed to be neutral and verifiable. Articles need to be written in a formal tone without words that express opinion. "amazing storylines", "to everyone's shock", "which wouldn't be surprising", etc. are all matters of opinion, not facts. Because articles need to be verifiable, you are supposed to provide reliable sources. Please check some of these links to get an idea how things are done around here, so you can continue editing without running into problems with others. Happy editing! - Mgm|(talk) 14:35, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. If you continue to vandalize pages, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia.

Your response

I dont hide 64.201.162.1 is User:RaveenS, if you look at IP edits, the IP has edited User Raveens home page anyway. To your Vanadalism of the said page. If I report you to Admin, if you continue this negative attitude towards editing, any admin can see that Your edit compare it to what was there before original version can see that you had eliminated all credible sources and rewrote an article without a source simply to push an POV. Beware such a trail of mis deeds will only lead to being blocked. Thanks

Unable to Read

Hey Lahiru K, you had written something on my talk page which I think is in Sinhalese. Unfortunately, right now I'm in the U.S. and I can't get Sinhalese fonts to work on this computer so I can't read what you've written. Sorry about that. So maybe write it in english or you can click the @ sign next to my signature and email me if you want. Again real sorry about this. I seriously need to get sinhalese fonts to work. --snowolfD4( talk / @ ) 16:11, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Great Work

Hi Lahiru, I want to say that, what you have done through all the excellent writings of yours is simply superlative and exceptional!!!. The best thing is, they have had a considerably noticable impact on so many parties, haven't it? I've got to tell you this, that, your work is giving the impression that another S. Mahinda himi is on His way fighting for freedom. You are doing exactly the same thing He did, made different only by the "keyboard" instead of the "pen". Our Mother Land is proud of you!!!!! You have all our blessings. All the very Best!!! Kaushini 02:11 18 September 2006(UTC)

Yeah thanks, but you've done a whole lot more work on that and similar articles than I have. So really I have to tell you, Like Kaushini says, Great Work and keep it up.--snowolfD4( talk / @ ) 23:56, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

STF

In Relation to the Special Task Force article. Your recent attempts to improve the article have been somewhat detrimental. I see that you have questioned the sources stated, On the first instance, yes the site went inactive and thus the source invalid, however, you should of posted on the 'Talk Page' as I could of verified and rectified the situation

The second edit deleted the statement 'Tamil and Muslim ares' and had cited sources for both. Whilst the first source states 'LTTE controlled area' hence inherently Tamil area, but this can be mistaken and I will find a better impartial source time permitting, however my main concern with this second edit is that you deleted the 'muslim areas' aswell even though the source was perfectly clear and cited properly

Please be more careful in future edits of this page and use the talk page when apropriate to do so. Also thankyou for citing the reason for changing the article, otherwise I would of not been alerted to this issues.

Thankyou --Sharz 09:11, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sri Lankan Army

  • First, I would like to thank you for your contributions of many article related to Sri Lanka. As you may aware as a fellow Wikipedian, Wikipedia insists on NPOV, to maintain the quality of the articles and it to be a neutral Encyclopaedia, providing her readers with neutral articles that could be relied on. Deleting well cited section, Human Rights Allegations of the article Sri Lankan Army, may violate NPOV. You are welcome to do so, provided that there are reasons to do so, but please leave a not in the respective article's discussion. Again, thanking you for your hard work and contributions, and looking forward to see more contributions to Wikipedia from you. Bye. --Sechzehn16Talk 15:22, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dear my friend, This what i want to say to you. Before Accusing me for blanking the Human Rights Allegations section you have to go through the history page of Sri Lankan Army article. See [1], someone came from 64.231.40.234 IP did that blanking job. Its a Canadian IP [2]. On that day I just did some corrections for two minor mistakes and one was done by 160.94.105.163. Believe me, I'm from Sri Lanka and I can even prove that if you want. My pal, I'm not blaming on you for this incidence. I know that you made a simple mistake. So I here by I'm asking from you to leave a message on talk page, about this incidence. Thank you, Lahiru_k 18:19, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for telling you things that you did not do and giving you unnecessary worries. As I confirmed the history of the article it could be verifed. I accept my mistake. I will write the message for the right IP user who did the deletion. Then, have a nice weekend. --Sechzehn16Talk 23:32, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sri Lanka Army Citations

I would like to say thanks having done a good job filling in quite a sizable number of references. I have also a filled in a few, where I a spotted stuff based on the references you spotted. There is still some left, but that should hopefully be taken care of soon. Elalan 15:48, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You are most welcome! I have been spending countless sleepless hours to complete the reference sections. I think it is quite a good idea to fill up the references of articles related to Sri Lanka. If you come across such citation problems again, would you mind letting me know about it first before you do the fact tagging? Because I'm interested in looking for the proper references regarding any article. Thank you in advance. Lahiru_k 04:18, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject NCSLC

Hi Lahiru_k, myself and others wanted to take the opportunity to invite you to join this project to help clean Sri Lanka ethnic conflict related articles on wikipedia. NCSLC: Neutral Coverage of the Sri Lankan Conflict. Pls let me know your inputs and how to take it forward from here. We eagerly looking fwd to having you there. Certainly this can also be point to help coordinate, fill in references and make these articles authoritative! Elalan 05:05, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That's very thoughtful on your part but no thank you I'm afraid. I'm always ready to render my service regarding this as a Sri Lankan, but I would always prefer doing things in the way I have always used to. By the way, I would also like to mention that there is no such ETHNIC CONFLICT in Sri Lanka but sheer TERRORISM. According to the newest statistical data, the majority of the Colombo city comprises Muslims followed by Tamils and Sinhalese respectively. If there was such an ethnic conflict in Sri Lanka do you think this situation could be possible in a southern area like this which is also the Commercial Capital of the country? If you do not mind, please remind this to Tamil Selvam as well before the peace talks. Anyway, I appreciate your invitation to join the project and thanks once again. Lahiru_k 08:48, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Just as an intresting note about your arguement, Conflict between religous and ethinic groups have been going on far before the British Occupation of Sri Lanka and the growing ethinic populations in the capital city is as of a result of the conflicts. Intresting enough too though, government proliferated ethinic riots began in Columbo, and perpetuated by Sihalese mobs, spread across the country. Seems that only the international eye in Colombu keeps conflict in check.

Userboxes

So you dispute whether I'm a guy??? I show you... :-) Anyway thanks for removing that userbox. I didn't notice I'd put two of them.
And machang want to borrow your "This user supports the Sri Lankan troops" userbox. I could just copy and paste it, but I think it's be easier if we create a seperate template for it. That way anyone who wants to use it can easily just paste the template onto their userpage. What do you think? --snowolfD4( talk / @ ) 03:46, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

ha ha ha, ok pal go ahead and prove it!!!!!!!!!!!! ;-) ;-) (Just kidding ;-) Anyway, I have no doubt about that fact of yours, but yes I do have my doubts about the truth vandals).
Machang, I also got this user box from someone else and changed it to Sri Lankan troops. Sure let's make it a template. But I don't really know how to do it. Do u have any idea? Lahiru_k 06:53, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh thanks bro, for the template. Thats really good work :-) Lahiru_k 04:55, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

203.94.86.111

There is not much that can be done about 203.94.86.111 as he/she has only made two contributions and that was on your userpage. I can only give a warning and after a number of warnings block he/she temporary. If he/she is still continuing to vandalise your userpage after my 1st warning please let me know. --Jcw69 09:29, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, Thanks. Lahiru_k 14:11, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The IP address is from Sri Lanka Telecom who uses the IP range 203.94.64.0 - 203.94.127.255. You can take it further with them by contacting their abuse department at abuseATslt.lk --Jcw69 14:51, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User and talk pages

The user can do what he wants with his own user and take pages as long as it does not hurt anyone. It is his space. I have no problem with it although some admins frown on users who blank out warnings which they have given to the user. I have seen this issue raised in discussion but with no clear cut decision. What I do is to archive my talk pages when it gets too big but as I have said it is your space, enjoy it. --Jcw69 04:20, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I will keep an eye on him for a while --Jcw69 16:16, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

ok, i respect you guys but what iam i supposed to do while that guy your friend was deleted all my edits.am i supposed to sit simply huh.why don't you warn your pal my sinhalese friend.i didn't add any articles that was opposed to sinhalese peoples but i have added the article that was totally true, but again my article have been deleted without any permissions by your friend.thanks my dear friend for your support over your pal. Nirojansakthivel 10:31, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok Ok, you are the innocent guy and we are the bad guys huh? Then what you have to tell about this? And you think still we doesn’t know the meaning of this tamil sentence ha?
Keep in mind this as well my fellow Wikipedian. We don’t have any personal problem with you. We are always trying to make this Wikipedia is a better place for everyone. ĽąĦĩŘǔ_Қ♪  (Ŧ) 15:13, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think you want to get rid of | { { subst:

Hi, on your user page you have the construct |{{subst:Lahiru_k}} in a lot of the category boxes that you want to add yourself to. This has the effect of sorting your name after "{" instead of "L" in these categories. I suspect this has come about by changing |{{subst:PAGENAME}} to |{{subst:Lahiru_k}}, when you could have left it as it was or changed it to just |Lahiru_k. Does that make sense :-) --AGoon 02:27, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User box

Hey, cute user box!!!!!!!! Oppose against LTTE. Good Job!!! Keep it up ;-) Kaushini

huh???

Why did you accuse me of vandalism for no reason? Machan, just as much as you have the right to support the GOSL,we too have the right to come out with our opinion, you cant call me a vandal for one, uncited edit regarding pottuvil massacre.

PS; I am from Colombo too. Donnyt 02:46, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Eventhough you are a considerably old wikipedian than me, you do not seem to know much about the guidlines of wikipedia. This situation is completely normal, since you haven't done much contributions to wikipedia. No user is 100% perfect in that matter and so I am advising you as a fellow wikipedian, not to ignore the warning and do take a lesson out of it for your furthur edits. You may read this guidline for furthur information Guidline - WP:CITE. I am not at all concerned about your personal opinions and the other fact I want you to know is, I DO NOT support the GoSL. My efforts are for eliminating the truth vandalism from wikipedia regarding Sri Lanka. It is obvious that I look like a GoSL supporter when I am on my way doing this. By the way, anyone could guess that you are not an experienced user in wikipedia simply by looking at your User Page (I'm talking about one of your user boxes ;-) ) I also suggest that you address your fellow wikipedians in a more formal manner since you have lots to learn from them especialy users like RaveenS. I wish you Happy Editing!!!  ĽąĦĩŘǔ_Қ♪  (Ŧ) 04:10, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Language skills

Thanks for your thorough investigations and pointing out your opinion about language skills. But I am sorry to say that your language skill is assesment about me is not correct and I am deleting the userbox you added in the talk page because it adds my talk page to a wrong category. Like I do from Romanized corpus, you can generate Tamil script in Unicode from its transliteration in [3]. Please also recomend me about Sinhala script generator, becaue I have a lot of Romanized corpus, which I could use for generating Sinhala scripts for use in English Wikipedia. Thanking you, --Sechzehn16Talk 00:53, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RfA thanks

Thank you for participating in my RfA discussion! I appreciate you contributing your voice to the debate and its outcome. I hope how I wield the mop makes you proud. Thanks!

Special Task Force

Concerning your latest changes, it seems that the only two news sources that are reporting this development is the Sri Lankan Military site, which is obviously biased, and 'lankatruth' which is dubious but uncertain. However, news sources that have printed that the incident was commited completly by the Special Task Forces of Sri Lanka consist of the BBCCite error: A <ref> tag is missing the closing </ref> (see the help page)., arabnews.com[1], The Europian Union Commision on Human Rights [2](Which has been brought up at the UN), wsws.com [3], Amensty International, USA Today[4], The Green Left[5] and PeaceMagazine [6].

Those are a mere fraction of the news outlets, INGOs and Government agencies that accuse the Sri Lankan Government, and particularly the Special Task Foce that was occupying the area, of the murders.

Also, Amnesty International has cited the Sri Lankan Government as utilising 'Abnormal and Inconsistant interogation techniques' whilst the U.S State Department is cited as saying the Sri Lankan Government has 'coerced infomation through the use of non-orthodox techniques, including but not exclusive to torture'.

What do you say to the overwhelming evidence that supports the initial claim that the STF commited this attrocity, and also that two major organisations have cited the Sri Lankan Government as using torture and other means to acsertain favorable facts?
