Powelliphanta gilliesi brunnea is a terrestrial mollusc in the family Rhytididae, endemic to the South Island of New Zealand. It is found only just north of the Paturau River, West Nelson, in a small remnant of original coastal forest.

Shell base coloration is plain, bright reddish-brown, without colour bands, and a dark brown to black parietal callus (thickened calcareous deposit on the upper part of the inside wall of the aperture) crowded with fine granules.

Major diameter is up to 56 mm, and height up to 32 mm.
