The Armalite AR-50 was meant to be an economical entry into long rang shooting while still being quite accurate. Range testing conducted by Bunker Ammo Corps [http://www.bunkerammocorps.com Bunker Ammo Corps] has reported the rifle to be quite accurate often producing 1/2MOA or less. The rifle utilizes weight and a large fluted muzzle break to provide a very mild recoil and pleasurable shooting experience. The rifle weighs approximately 33 pounds and is a single shot bolt action rifle. The rifles barrel is extremely thick and rigid to minimize the "whip" effect of rifle barrels when they are being fired. The receiver features Armalite's unique octagonal design which will strengthen the receiver against flexing and contain the cartridge; firing the .50BMG cartridge is a serious consideration. The weapons receiver is beaded to the stock while the barrel is left to free float, The weapon's stock is made of aluminum as well.
