It has a population of 500+, and is located 2km from Springfield Castle, historically the local seat of power.
'''Broadford''' is the second-largest town on the [[Isle of Skye]]. With a twenty-four hour supermarket and petrol station, a few restaurants and a [[youth hostel]] it is a key service center for southern Skye.


It is a relatively newcomer, having only appeared on Ordanance Survey Maps in the late 1800's.
There is a song from the rockband [[Jethro Tull]] called Broadford Bazaar, which is named after this town.


Note: Broadford, Co. Limerick should not be mixed-up with Broadford Co. Clare, which is located over the Shannon.
