One Madison park under construction

One Madison Park is a luxury residential condominium tower at 22 East 23rd Street, at the foot of Madison Avenue, across from Madison Square Park. When completed, it will be almost as tall as or slightly taller than the Met Life Tower (604-617 feet, depending on the source, compared to 614 feet (187 m) for the Tower), and taller than the Flatiron Building.[1] The asking price for the triplex penthouse is $45 million.[2] As of April 2010, the building was still not complete, having run into financial difficulties. Sales of residential units had stopped, but the appointment of a receiver on April 15 allowed sales to start again. [3]

Nicolai Ouroussoff, the architecture critic for the New York Times, calls One Madison Park "a dazzling addition to a street that includes two of the city’s most celebrated skyscrapers: Pierre LeBrun’s 1909 Metropolitan Life tower, across the street, and Daniel Burnham’s 1903 Flatiron building, a half block west. It jolts the neighborhood into the present."[4]

Chef Charlie Trotter has plans to open a restaurant in the building .[5]
