left|120px Welcome to the IMA E-Volunteer Program! This is your gateway to all of the resources you will need to create Wikipedia articles for notable artworks in the IMA's collection. The IMA E-Volunteer program uses the resources developed by Wikipedia Saves Public Art to research, document, and publish notable artworks from the IMA’s collection in Wikipedia. By documenting these artworks, you are assisting in the conservation of the IMA’s collection while sharing information on the most widely used resource on the web!

Things to remember

  • It is important that you first understand how Wikipedia works, including the Five Pillars and the basic rules of Wikipedia. This makes it necessary to complete some preliminary tutorials before beginning an article. Start here: Wikipedia:WSPA/EVolunteerPlan/Beginners
  • On your userpage, please keep track of the number of hours spent training, researching content, and developing articles. (A template will be made available to chart your hours). The IMA will need to know your volunteer hours at the end of each month.
  • If you have questions regarding Wikipedia, you should direct them to appropriate users or WikiProject pages within Wikipedia. (See Wikipedia:WSPA/EVolunteerPlan#Resources for help.)

Please sign in as a member of this project, using your username. Once you've completed the preliminary Wikipedia training and choose an artwork to research, add it here.

IMA resources

The IMA has digitized much of its information on artworks in the collection. Start your research in the Collections Search; click the MORE button for an advanced search.
Librarians in the IMA's Stout Reference Library are committed to helping e-volunteers find information that can be used in Wikipedia. This is a valuable resource for researching published documentation on your chosen artwork.

Public art list

The following is a list of public artworks on the grounds of the IMA. Red links represent nonexistent Wikipedia articles. Blue links represent existing articles, many of which could be greatly expanded. This does not include notable artworks found in the interior of the museum. You are welcome to create an article on works not included in this list, including notable interior works, as long as you consider Wikipedia's notability guidelines.
