Hello!

We bring together the forces of the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University and Sciences Po Paris to conduct a large-scale research project on the microfoundations and dynamics of online interactions and behavior.

In this research project, we recruit internet users with various profiles to fill out a survey on LimeSurvey, an open source survey tool, which combines decision making involving money with substantive questions about attitudes and practices.

It should take you no more than 25 minutes to complete the study. While helping to advance research, you can earn a significant amount of money (up to $50). You will be paid online via a PayPal account. It is not necessary to have a PayPal account prior to your participation to participate in the study. As a participant from Wikipedia, you have the possibility to transfer your final earnings to the Wikimedia Foundation if you wish to do so.

At the end of the study, research outputs will be made available under an open access license and we intend to share them at a Wikimania conference.

Participating in the study is very easy and intuitive (you may even like it!):

  1. Copy and paste the following sentence “I accept to participate in the study” as an answer to this message before you begin the study in order to confirm your agreement to participate in the study.
  2. Visit the wiki page dedicated to this research project and click on the link to the study or go to http://grebdioz.sciences-po.fr/limesurvey/services/login.php. The access to the study is restricted by an access code. Your personal access code is your Wikipedia username.
  3. Please note that you should complete the study in one session. This is because every access code is locked after it has been used. The reactivation of your access code is only possible by special request in case of an involuntary logout.
  4. Note also that the link to the study will only be active until thursday the 10th of february at 11:59 p.m. (UCT). After this date, you will not be able to access the study anymore.

A presentation about us and this research project is available through the wiki page dedicated to this research project.

Hope you enjoy the survey! Thank you very much!

The research team.

Note: It is not in our intention neither to disturb you nor to disrupt the editing process of Wikipedia. So if you don’t want to receive such messages in the future, you can simply copy and paste the following sentence “Please no more messages” as an answer to this message. Thank you!
