The Origin of Birds is an early synopsis of bird evolution written by the Danish artist, paleontologist, and ornithologist Gerhard Heilmann and was published in 1926. It became highly influential at the time due to its quality of research and synthesis, and was considered the last word on the subject of bird evolution for many decades after its publication.[1]
