A byline is a credit line, that is, a line acknowledging the author of an article. As Wikipedia's content is a group effort, individual authors can't really lay claim to an article in such a way. You are however recorded as a contributor to the article under its page history, which is easily accessible to anyone interested in knowing who was involved. If you were its soul or principal author, such would be fairly obvious from a glance at the page history. Cheers, -- Hadal 16:05, 21 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Thank you, I didn't know that. But I hava another question. Frankly, I've forgot both my username and password so I cannot log in any more. Please help!

Oh, you're quite welcome. Regarding your username, it appears to be TomS (unless you were signing the article for him?); as for your password, if you set an email address to your account you should be able to get the system to email you your password from Special:Userlogin. Unfortunately, there isn't an easy to check the IP address of a logged in user. The only people who can do that are certain developers, of which there are precious few, and are usually too busy anyway. I just got lucky because you signed a comment whilst logged-out.

On the subject of developers, though, it is possible (apparently) for a developer to insert an e-mail address into a user's preferences, so if you didn't set an e-mail address, you could try asking on m:Non-development tasks for developers, and then, if it works, you can get a new password sent to you. There's a button at the bottom of the login page ("Mail me a new password"). Just type in your username and push it. Never tried it myself, but that should do it. - 14:37, 22 Jul 2004 (UTC) Lee (talk)
