"Thrift Shop" is a song by Seattle-based American rapper Macklemore and his producer Ryan Lewis. It was released as the fifth and final single from his debut studio album The Heist on August 28, 2012 and features vocals from Wanz. Despite being released on Macklemore's independent label the single was met with commercial success, peaking on the US Billboard Hot 100 at number 10. The song entered the top 30 of several Billboard charts and the Canadian Hot 100. "Thrif't Shop" has reached number 1 in Australia and became the duo's first number 1 single in New Zealand. A music video was released to accompany the song's release.

Content

Lyrically the song portrays Macklemore's interest in purchasing cheap clothing from thrift shops, while disdaining designer labels and popular trends. He claims to enjoy donning "your grandad's clothes."

Music video

The official music video was uploaded to YouTube on Ryan Lewis' channel on August 29, 2012 and was directed by Jon Jon Augustavo, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. The video has since gone viral and has received more than 36 million views.[2]
