The Richmond, California 2006 mayorial race is a three way race between Incumbant mayor Irma A. Anderson, councilmember Gary Bell (both Democrats) and councilmember Gayle McLaughlin a Green. McLaughlin won the first Green position to the city council in 2004, this is attibuted to her door-to-door campaigning and the fact that Richmond city position ballots do not mention political party; somthing that many believe gives her a shot of making first Green mayor of a major California city, a feat nearly achieved by Matt González in 2004.
