Alexey Morosov (Russian: Алексей Викторович Морозов) a sculptor and painter born 1974 in Bishkek (Frunze) USSR. Graduated V. Surikov Moscow State Academy Art Institute faculty of sculpture (studio of Leo Kerbell) 1999. Director of Moscow Academic Art College (MAXY) from 2013. Member of Russian Academy of Arts (RAA) Presidium from 2014.[1]
Collections and Exhibits
His work is held in the collection of the State Russian Museum[2] and the Museum of the New Academy of Fine Arts of St. Petersburg.[3]
In PONTIFEX MAXIMVS, exhibited 2016 in Naples and Moscow, Morosov draws upon the esoteric practice of the Romans further exploring his interest in the ties that bind antiquity and modernity.[4][5][6]
Public Works
A monument to Konstantin Stanislavsky and Vladimir Nemirovich-Danchenko, founders of The Moscow Art Theatre unveiled in 2014 adjacent to the theatre bears an inscription in Latin from Checkov’s ‘The Seagull’.[7][8][9]
