Hurricane Sam is a very powerful Category 4 hurricane that is expected to affect no land areas. The eighteenth tropical cyclone, seventh hurricane, and fourth major hurricane of the 2021 Atlantic hurricane season, Sam emerged from a tropical wave that formed off the coast of Africa on September 19,

Meteorological History

On 19 September 2021, the NHC began monitoring a tropical wave over Africa. The wave rapidly intensified. On 23 September 2021, the wave became a tropical storm and was given the name Sam. Sam intensified into a hurricane on 24 September 2021. The next day, Sam upgraded into a category 2, Later that day Sam upgraded to a category 3 making it the 4th major hurricane of the season. Later that day Sam again upgraded to a category 4.
