In order to practise veterinary medicine in the UK all vets must be members of the [[RCVS]] and have the initials MRCVS or FRCVS after their name. These initials show that the vet has met the criteria required for RCVS membership because they:


Any Vet wishing to practice veterinary surgery in the [[United Kingdom]] must be a properly registered member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons ([[RCVS]]). Once they have registered, they are entitiled to use the letters MRCVS after their name which shows that they have met the RCVS criteria for membership by either posessing a veterinary degree which is recognised by the RCVS or by having passed the MRCVS statutory membership exam.
