His 154 goals (to the end of 2005) is currently third behind to Clive Waterhouse who holds the record of 178 goals for Fremantle, and Matthew Pavlich with 167. He is a very strong overhead mark for his size. He has currently played 67 consecutive matches since 2003.

Wearing guernsey number 34 from his debut in 2002 until 2005, for the 2006 season he has chosen to change to number 6, the number worn by his idol, ex-Fremantle and Adelaide champion goalkicker Tony Modra.

In 2006, Medhurst would only play 12 games in a year which saw the club make it's best performance, finishing top 4 after a Preliminary Final berth. As of the 2006 trading period has now become a member of The Collingwood Magpies Football Club as part of a deal that saw pick 8 and Paul Medhurst head to Victoria in return for Chris Tarrant.
