Hey Javad,

You have information that seems like it will be useful but I'm not sure in which context it would be placed in? As a revision, it'll be helpful for other peer-reviewers to understand where this edit will be placed by incorporating the whole section that you are looking at. For example, the specific title of the section can be helpful if you add it in your sandbox.
Your content is neutral and it doesn't show bias in any way. Your sources also seem credible in which they are journal articles and are peer-reviewed. Your image is a good addition because it shows the morphological changes in the homologous structures.
Also for the audience who don't have an advanced scientific background, maybe you can add some hyperlinks to certain words: transcription factor. It might be helpful to briefly elaborate what Fgf10 is - it is a ligand?

Hi Javad,

It seems that you are going to be working on the ‘Bat Flight’ article with Julianna, but you’re focusing on the evolution aspect. Your draft is well organized, I can see the top three things you are going to be working on.

- I think all three sources you have listed are reliable since they are all journal articles, and the content you want to add is neutral.

- I think the image you have of the bat wing bones is a good image to incorporate, could you possibly find one with labeled bones? Or somehow label the bones yourself, or put a figure caption of the labeled bones?

- Copy edit – I am not sure where you will be putting this in the article? “The expansion of the long bones in bat wings is at at least partly attributed to paired-box homeodomain transcription factor, Prx1. It is believed that changes in the Prx1 enhancer along with other molecular factors lead to the morphological separation of bats from their ancestors.[1] Up-regulation of the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signaling pathway is also crucial in developmental and evolutionary elongation of bat forelimb digits.[2] Fgf10 signaling is also likely required for the development of bat wing membrane and muscles.[3] ” - I do think this is good information, I am just having trouble as to what section you are incorporating this into?

- Overall, I think the content you presented it neutral, there is a clear structure where you want to take this article, and I do think you and Julianna are integrating the information thoughtfully since you seem to both be working on different aspects of the same article.

Peer Review

Peer review: I believe Scientist06 draft for week six shows they want to add information to the “Bat wing evolution” section of the Bat Flight page. I don’t see exactly where in the section this information would be added and the draft uses a lot of large words that someone outside of the science field wouldn’t be able to understand. They do link to good reliable sources, but no links to Wikipedia pages. Images are planned, another way to add the image for draft purposes is to add the image link.

Suggestions:

Add the original Wikipedia section to your sandbox and show where your edit would fit into the section or what else you would edit out of the section. Also, try to simplify the words so someone outside of the STEM field will be able to look at the Wikipedia page and understand the basic concept, also add Wikipedia links.LepidopteraMonarch (talk) 02:01, 31 March 2022 (UTC)
