Wojciech Lucjan Paszyński (born 5 July 1985) is a Polish historian specializing in the history of science.[1][2][3][4][5]

Education

Paszyński studied at the Jagiellonian University and at the Adam Mickiewicz University,[6][7] where he received a doctorate in history (2015).[8]

Career

Paszyński lectured on the history of medicine at the AFMKU (2016-2019). Since 2019 he has been a lecturer in the history of economic thought and investment philosophy at the AGH University of Science and Technology.[9][10][11][12]

Academic interests

His academic work focuses on the history of science, history of medicine, history of economic thought, historiography, ethnogenesis of Slavs and the culture of Polish nobles with a particular emphasis on Sarmatism phenomenon.[13][14]

Paszyński has investigated the subject of the first Polish encyclopedia (older than the Encyclopédie) called Nowe Ateny (New Athens).[15][16][17]

Paszyński studied the issue of the hypothesis about the origin of Poles (ethnogenesis) in the medieval and early modern historiography.[8] In the book Sarmaci i uczeni (2017) he examined primarily Sarmatian theory.[18][19] In his subsequent book named Wandalia (2019), he focused directly on the Vandal theory, which was the first monographic study on this phenomenon.[1][20][21][22][23]
