Annemarie Surlykke (21 October 1955 – 28 July 2015) was a Danish physiologist. She contributed significantly to bioacoustic research, in particular in the fields of insect hearing and acoustic communication, bat echolocation and insect-bat interactions. Graduated from University of Southern Denmark, employments at University of Tübingen and Aarhus University. From 1987 associate professor at University of Southern Denmark, full professor in 2011.

Work on insect hearing and communication

Early works were on ultrasonic hearing in Noctuid[1] and Nothodontid[2] moths, later expanded to include Arctiids[3], Geometrids[4][5], Pyralids[6], Sphingiids[7] and other nocturnal insects subjected to predation by bats.

Work on bat echolocation and ecology

Early in her career, Annemarie Surlykke engaged in studies of echolocation in bats. This was done through studies in the lab[8][9][10] and in the field.[11][12]

Work on odontocete echolocation

Alongside her main work on insect and bat bioacoustics Annemarie Surlykke also contributed to the bioacoustics of odontocetes, through cooperation with colleagues Bertel Møhl and Lee A. Miller.[13][14]
