Semi-arid desert climate in Pasadena

[edit]

Greetings. I noticed that you changed Pasadena's climate classification from Mediterranean (Koppen Csa) to semi-arid (Koppen BSh). 17.68 inches of precipitation may be low enough threshold to list Pasadena in the semi-arid regime, but where did that statistic come from? I thought that Pasadena averaged between 19 to 21 inches of annual precipitation.

I'm not going to revise your edit, but Pasadena's climate should be classified as hot-summer Mediterranean (Csa) with strong semi-arid (BSh) characteristics. Thank you. 68taileddragon (talk) 21:10, 21 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, the city is on the borderline, as 20" of rainfall separates Mediterranean from Steppe. I'll change it back since it is officially Mediterranean. Thanks for noticing.

Thank you for the information. This means that LA doesn't have a Mediterranean climate either. I won't change the classification, but I'll add some explanantions. That said, LA and Pasadena are not deserts yet. The correct term is steppe.

San Diego is in the same boat as Pasadena and LA, though its much more complicated.
