The Post Fire is an ongoing wildfire in California that started near Gorman and Frazier Park. The fire began on June 15 and spread rapidly due to built-up vegetation, strong winds, high temperatures, and arid conditions.[1]
Fire
The Post Fire began forming south of Ralphs Ranch Road in Frazier Park on June 15, 2024, at approximately 2 p.m. PDT.[1][2] By June 18 the fire was reported as 24% contained. More than 1000 firefighters were assigned to battle the blaze, particularly near the Pyramid Lake recreation area.[3] As of Friday, June 21, the fire was described as 61% contained, affecting 15,690 acres. Hot and breezy conditions were expected over the weekend.[4]
Closures
The fire closed a section of Interstate 5 at Quail Lake and Gorman Post Road.[2]
