Peirce was born in Del Rio, Texas, and moved to Hollywood as a professional stage dancer, and was spotted by talent scouts and encouraged to pursue an acting career in the mid-1920s. Her first role was in the 1925 film Excuse Me, which was uncredited. Her first credited role was that same year in Don't, which starred Sally O'Neil. She was also one of thirteen girls selected as "WAMPAS Baby Stars" in 1925, which included actress June Marlowe.
