Vernagt am See ( Italy Vernago) is a small hamlet in Schnalstal in South Tyrol (Italy) with a population of 53 (2011).[1] It belongs to the Schnals municipality and the Frazione Unser Frau.
The village is situated directly on the banks of the Lake Vernagt-Stausee within Ötztal Alps since the 1950s when the old village was flooded on purpose. Before that, the village was located further west. The main economic factor is tourism (skiing and hiking).[citation needed]
