Chelsea High School is located in SoHo, Manhattan. The school resides in a 100-year-old building.

Academic Programs

It is one of the few schools in the New York City public system to offer Cisco Networking Academy. The Mouse Squad is offered as extracurricular activity. Beginning sophomore year and on, students are allowed to take College Now courses. Additionally, the Peter Jay Sharp program is offered to prepared them for the SATs. Chelsea also offers the Morgan Stanley Mentoring Program in which students, in sophomore year, are paired up with a Mentor who is an employee at Morgan Stanley. The Morgan Stanley Mentoring Program provides summer internships at Morgan Stanley for its top students in the program; this internship becomes a beneficial part of a student's resume and work/learning experience.

Beginning the 2007-2008 year, it will no longer offer the Electrical course but more sophisiticated courses for the 21st century.

General Information

The current principal is Timothy Timberlake. The school houses three smaller schools, Chelsea Technical Academy/Cisco, the Soho Business Academy, and Soho Communication Arts Academy. As of now, Chelsea has dropped "Vocational" from its official name. Soccer, basketball, volleyball and track are a few of the sports offered, the official school mascot is the Lion.

The school's newspaper, the Chelsea Vanguard, was relaunched after more than fifty years of absence on October 26, 2006.

The SoHo Square is a very popular place for students to relax while they are on their lunch period. Upon a passing grade, students have the privilege to go out to eat lunch.
