Being one of the oldest newspapers in Greece, it was first published in 1911 by Ioannis Vellidis. Since then, it remains the most famous and best selling political newspaper in northern Greece. The present owner is the company Makedoniki Ektipotiki AE. The director of the newspaper is the ERT3 journalist Pantelis Savvidis.
