Garoowe has a population of 51.919[1] and is the fourth largest city in the region after Boosaaso, Gaalkacyo and Laascaanood. The prominent clan in Garoowe is Harti. It is located in the geographical centre of Puntland and is transversed by the north-south Somali highway.
