Reik is a Latin Grammy-nominated Mexican band from Mexicali, Baja California formed by Jesús Alberto Navarro Rosas (lead vocals), Julio Ramírez Eguía (guitar/background vocals), and Gilberto Marín Espinoza "Bibi" (guitar).

Biography

In 2003, Jesús Navarro and Julio Ramirez started their then-nascent musical project, tentatively called Reik. They started to record their first demos, which were then released through the Mexican club underground. Two of the most successful demos — "Levemente" and "Ahora Sin Ti" — produced more widespread coverage across Mexico. In early 2004, Reik invited Gilberto to join the band. They have been famous ever since (mainly in Latin America, Mexico and the southern parts of USA), having their videos broadcasted in famous music TV channels, such as MTV and HTV. Their second album, "Secuencia," was released on November 14, 2006. The first single from that album, "Invierno", was released on November 6, and gained a lot of popularity in the Latin American charts.

Record Deal

By mid-2004 Reik started to get the attention of various major record companies, including Sony Music which eventually signed the band. In February of 2005 Reik released their self-titled Reik debut album, produced by Abelardo Vázquez and Kiko Cibrian. The first single "Yo Quisiera" got heavy rotation on Mexican pop radio stations and soon went to number one. Their second single "Que Vida La Mia" also topped the Mexican charts as did their third single "Noviembre Sin Ti." Their fourth single, "Niña," failed to match the success of their previous singles, charting only at #33.... Template:Sound sample box align left
