Chris G

Voice your opinion (talk page) (1/1/1); Scheduled to end 07:43, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Chris G (talk · contribs) - It is my pleasure to nominate Chris G for his second RfA. The first was withdrawn due to lack of experience, but I now believe Chris has gained the experience required to be an asset to the project.

Chris is a wonderful vandal fighter - he has 87 reports to Administrator intervention against vandalism - and the vast majority of his reports there result in blocks. Chris would use the blocking tool correctly, to block persistent vandals for appropriate lengths of time. He also does a large amount of work at Changing username/Usurpations, where he is a clerk, and has already demonstrated his trustworthiness.

As well as excellent project space work, Chris has demonstrated an interesting in building the encyclopedia. He has made 25 constructive edits to Fedora (Linux distribution), as well as many other articles.

I believe that Chris will make an excellent admin, and hope you will join me in supporting this request. Ladies and gentlemen; Chris G! Giggy Talk 07:43, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Candidate, please indicate acceptance of the nomination here: Thank You Giggy, I gladly accept. --Chris  G  10:04, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Questions for the candidate

Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia as an administrator. You may wish to answer the following optional questions to provide guidance for participants:

1. What admin work do you intend to take part in?
A: As an admin I would help out at WP:AIV and WP:UAA as well as this I will try to help out at WP:RPP and the CSD Backlogs.
2. What are your best contributions to Wikipedia, and why?
A: Article wise I would say Fedora (Linux distribution) as changes I have made are still visible, how ever in general my best contributions is reverting vandlism and it is that that takes up majority of my edit count.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A: As an RC patroller I do some times get a bit of a backlash but as I have done I the past I will be civil and keep a cool head.

General comments

Please keep criticism constructive and polite. If you are unfamiliar with the nominee, please thoroughly review Special:Contributions/Chris G before commenting.

Discussion

Support

  1. Support While he may not have made a large NUMBER of mainspace edits, he certainly makes very high quality mainspace contribution. --¿Exir?¡Kamalabadi! 10:44, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose

  1. Oppose I feel the same issues still apply from your last RfA, you still need more experience in the mainspace. T Rex | talk 10:18, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  2. Oppose — I simply can't see any mainspace contributions. Matthew 11:06, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  3. Oppose No mainspace contributions, and I also doubt that he would make much use of the tools. Mostly he just reverts obvious vandalism and welcomes people. Note, too, that he is twelve years old. 87.244.64.66 11:37, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Noted by his user page, so he is not unhappy to note it. However, let us not be too prejudicial without good cause; ageism can often cause great delusion, most particularly here on this project. -- Anonymous DissidentTalk 11:40, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  4. Oppose - Whilst I certainly don't think 'age-ism' is a good idea, I just can't believe that a twelve year old has the real-life experience to know how best deal with conflict etc. Also, sorry, but your answers are remarkably short and blunt. TheIslander 11:48, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Neutral

  1. Not sure this was entirely wise Chris. It has only been a month and a bit since your last RFA. I think you should have waited longer; I'm not sure that there has been enough time passed to properly show you have addressed the concerns of the previous RFA. -- Anonymous DissidentTalk 10:19, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The concerns, made a month and a half ago, was that he didn't have enough experience. But a month and a half is plenty of time to gain that. Giggy Talk 10:27, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm. I agree Chris has become much more experienced, but I still stand at the same viewpoint. I'd like to see more mainspace work - of his near-2800 edits, only 650 approx are actually to the content. He almost has more in his user space. Next time I feel that I will most likely support. -- Anonymous DissidentTalk 10:32, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Lastly, I want to say that I think that if Chris continues doing what he is doing then he is heading in the right direction. -- Anonymous DissidentTalk 11:17, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  2. Neutral for now. You seem to have had a problem with your password here. Password security is essential, especially for administrators. Do you consider your password secure and have you tested its strength? --JodyB yak, yak, yak 11:37, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That was the password for my bot and I aussure you that have a strong password. --Chris  G  11:42, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
