New Vampire

The watch has had vampires in it previously - hence this is bogus. Vampires are noted at forensic work Kev

Where was this? I've never read of any vampires being in the watch. Not even before Vimes joined the Watch. Arn't the Black Ribboners a recent thing? --takagawa-kun 11:23, 2 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Until now there has been no vampires in the Watch, from Night Watch:

Vimes "They want a vampire in the Watch?"

Carrot "Yes, sir. [...]"

Vimes "Does it look if my body is dead?"

Carrot "No, sir"

Vimes "Then the answer's no."

It is quite clear that Vimes doesn't want a vampire in the watch. It is only because he is forced to by the patrician as usual.

Yeah, right, though Vimes. And politics with Uberwald will become just that bit easier, won't it, if you can say you even have a Black Ribboner in the watch. And if I turn this man down, I'll have to explain why. And 'I just don't like vampires, okay?' probably won't do.

Cheery is the forensic technician, and she is definitely not a vampire (see The Fifth Elephant). You may be thinking of Otto Chriek, but he's a photographer with the newspaper, not the Watch. Tonywalton | Talk 09:06, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Release Date

September 13th what year! 1643? 20xx? Please be clear! Thud! ... released in the United States of America and the United Kingdom on September 13...

Thud! was released in the USA three weeks before it was released in Pratchett's native UK, to concide with a United States signing tour.

Would someone care to sort out this apparent contradiction?

I changed the UK release date to be 3 weeks after the US date, because I've seen that in more places that where I've seen them on the same date. Tigger89 04:16, 11 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

To add to Trivia...

Instead of saying "there are references to X in this book" can't we have some examples?

In particluar, Vimes' "Dis-Organizer" contains many real-world references (some of which have been said already but not credited to the Dis-Organizer). Some include:

"The Gooseberry" - Blackberry

"Bluenose" - Bluetooth

"Guess my Weight in Pigs" - carnival 'guess my weight' games
